What are Terpenes?

Terpenes are highly overlooked and undervalued. I have provided you today with some basic terpene information and a list of some of the most commonly found terpenes among many others.

To me, terpenes are everything. I actually pick out my medicines based on terpenes rather than the THC content. The reason for this is because at the end of the day terpenes and cannabinoids are what produce the effects you’re looking for. The THC simply potentiates those effects more. So take the time to learn more about terpenes and what they can do for you! #terps. Follow @thegreennp on Instagram for more great content.

Terpenes are the aromatic and flavorful component of plant essential oils. Check out more information on terpenes over at Wikipedia. Here are some awesome terpenes. Look below and check them out.

Myrcene: The most common terpene in cannabis. It is also known as the “couch-lock” terpene for its highly-sedative effects.

Limonene: Common in citrus, it is highly energetic and a known anti-depressant.

Terpinolene: A smokey or woody aroma that is slightly sedative, antioxidant, anti-cancer and antibacterial.

Beta-Caryophyllene: Gastroprotective and a strong anti-inflammatory with a woody, peppery taste.

Alpha-Pinene: Energetic and therapeutic, this terpene is common in pine needles, of course.

Humulene: The main constituent of hops is a strong anti-inflammatory agent and a hunger-suppressant.
