The Difference Between CBG and CBN

Cannabigerol (CBG) A non-psychoactive cannabinoid, CBG’s antibacterial effects can alter the overall effects of cannabis. CBG is known to kill or slow bacterial growth, reduce inflammation, inhibit cell growth in tumor/cancer cells, and promote bone growth. In fact, in brain-chemistry terms, CBG is what’s known as an antagonist because it interferes with the trippy high created by THC. That’s not a bad thing. CBG is an active compound in cannabis that is mostly known for its anti-bacterial effects. I can’t emphasize that enough of how good it is for you. However, very recent research has found that, while not traditionally thought to be very prevalent within most cannabis strains, it is likely to be the “template” or “stem cell” for both THC and CBD. It is even known to counteract the paranoid and intense feelings that THC can make people feel. It’s present only in trace amounts in most cannabis strains, however, some hemp strains are specifically cultivated to generate higher yields of this cannabinoid.

Cannabinol (CBN) is considered a mildly psychoactive cannabinoid known for its powerful sedative properties. CBN appears to have anti-inflammatory capabilities as well. Scientists are working to better understand how the human endocannabinoid system affects the immune system. CBN is being examined for their possible therapeutic role in treating inflammatory disease and as an appetite stimulant. As long as you have the right amount of trace elements in the strain that you are using, then those effects will work for you. Just remember not everybody’s tolerance or body is the same. Everything is trial and error to see where things fit best for you as an individual.

Like CBN and unlike THC or THCV, CBG does not have an intoxicating effect. CBG is produced when the cannabis plant produces cannabigerol acid (CBGA) and specific enzymes break the CBGA down into two acidic forms, which are CBD and THC. Looking for a great place to get CBD online, check out
