Pet Owners See Value In CBD

CBD is increasingly popular for pets.

As CBD grows in popularity for humans, it’s also being adopted for our animal companions.

BarkShop, a subsidiary of Bark, has hardly been able to keep its CBD-infused treats for pets in stock, they’ve become so popular. Mashable reports:

BarkShop started selling dog supplements last year — carrying everything from multivitamins to dental hygiene treats — according to BarkShop GM Melissa Seligmann. In January they made the decision to develop CBD offerings for their customers.

Bark, BarkShop’s parent company, was excited about pushing its wellness market further with the inclusion of CBD products but questioned how the new products would be received. BarkShop’s line of CBD products completely sold out in a day.

“We sold out of all our initial inventory that we bought for a two-month run on day one, and we’ve had a hard time keeping it [CBD supplies] in stock,” Seligmann said.

When it comes to furry friends and hemp-derived CBD, dogs aren’t the only ones to benefit. According to South Bend, Indiana’s WSBT, PetReleaf makes products for cats as well as dogs. The station reports:

Becki Curtis started using Pet Releaf’s product 6 months ago.

“I have a cat who is terminally ill with some kind of cancer and I give it to him to help him sleep and be more comfortable, and eat more, and just live a happier life.”

Curtis says she’s seen a noticeable difference in her cat’s overall well-being.

“We tried everything at the vet’s office from steroids to antibiotics, and certain types of things which make him lethargic or sick to his stomach. With this I don’t get any of those side effects.”
