Cannabis in the Kitchen

Have you ever thought to yourself, “I wonder how they make these edibles so good and so strong,” before? Cannabis has been around for a long time. With cannabis came edibles. Cannabis edibles are any form of food or drink that has been mixed with the cannabinoids within the cannabis L. Sativa plant. Well look no further. Cannabis edibles are actually quite easy to make. It all comes down to your base product and how you use the oils that come from it.

Derivatives of Cannabis

When you’re trying to make cannabis edibles, you have to be aware of the two main derivatives within cannabis. THC, tetrahydrocannabinol, and CBD, cannabidiol. THC is the psychoactive ingredient associated with marijuana that gives people that feeling of “high.” CBD is not psychoactive whatsoever. CBD is a derivative of marijuana, and the fully legal hemp due to the Farm Bill of 2018. However, CBD oil does have a chance of having THC within it if the origins were from marijuana or hemp with traces of THC within it. The oils are extracted from these two plants in order to make it a soluble version. This newly formed oil would therein be able to be used for a variety of things. Including, cooking.

Ten Tablespoons of CBD Oil Please

CBD Oil will change based off of the quality of the hemp or marijuana being used. Potency may vary so we recommend experimenting slowly. However, when using CBD for cooking, its just like any other cooking oil. You must be aware though that CBD oil can burn quite easily. If the oil is put at high temperatures, the derivatives will start cooking out and you’ll be left with an oil with no properties. It is imperative to cook at a low heat and maybe even turn it into butter for certain recipes. Especially, for baking all of those delicious snacks!
